Migration Implementation Phase

You can opt for any of the two basic collaboration scenarios of implementation:

Customer's independent migration under ABCloudz supervision

Migration to be completely executed by ABCloudz team

If you intend to migrate your workloads on your own, we will prepare or develop migration scripts and tools to support your independent migration to AWS environment. We provide scripts to properly configure AWS DMS, with correct roles and tasks for DMS operation. If the migration process requires more than just employing DMS only, we create task-specific scripts and an overall migration methodology.

When actual migration execution is in our scope, after finalizing details with your migration team, we get to work using our available tools/scripts and AWS services like DMS and SCT or create tools/scripts for non-typical tasks and issues on the go.

Our fully managed migration process covers the following steps:

The migration process follows iterative steps of configuring, migrating, and testing with the use of AWS services, for example, Load Balancing or Route53 for convenient switching between host locations.

Migration can be executed all at once or by blocks, with part of the system leaning on the source architecture, another part to interact with the migrated architecture.

Moving databases, everything that does not pass standard SCT run is to be processed and optimized manually with the aid of scripts. Most of our projects are complex systems, often with huge volumes of unstructured data, which do not fully fit AWS automation pipeline and the allocated migration timeframe, so we boost the process by developing a specific tool or data migration algorithm.

Depending on security implications, data migration is executed completely by us or by a customer under our expert supervision.

Testing and Validation

There are differing migration testing patterns depending on the individual situation. We will help you select the best fit for your case.

The standard sequence ‘configure – migrate – validate' is applied repeatedly to every component of the system. We run validation tests for DBs followed by application functional tests. Integration with 3rd party applications takes special attention and extensive integrity testing.

Every time a successful testing outcome is reported, a customer team usually runs their own tests to verify that all components operate as designed.

Having complete system code migrated and tested, we define system downtime for data transition. Once the data is in place, we run a new wave of tests.

Finally, when all tests are passed, the data in a migrated system is updated and URLs are re-directed to a new system, it is the time for customer’s final testing before commissioning.
